- Add Navigational Notes: Entry times are 30-40 minutes past each hour for southbound traffic and 0-10 minutes past each hour for northbound traffic. There are good moorings at both ends of the tunnel.

There is a Spar supermarket 50yds west of the bridge. (There have been problems with children throwing stones by this bridge.)
Midland Chandlers are now adjacent to Claymoore Navigation at the Wharf.

- There is a winding hole ½ mile west of the M6 bridge, at the bend mid-way to Thelwall Underbridge.

- There is a water point near Ye Old No. 3 pub, 600yds east of the bridge.

- Useful shops (Tesco, M&S) can be found approx 200m NW from the church, just to the south of the bridge, close to the text "Ashton Upon Mersey" in the guide.
