The White House pub has been renamed "The Narrow Boat" (N.B. two separate words). It appears to have been refurbished. Despite the name, there does not appear to be anything vaguely "boaty" about the place. All else about the place is as the 2003 edition. This lacks the specific reference to John Smiths and Theakston ales that appear in the earlier editions.

There is a new pub at 1-3 Wharf Street, effectively in the Market Place, 100yds east of the Bridge, called The Hogshead (Tel: 01635 569895). Map scale means there is no room for a symbol, however, it is described in the 2003 edition as: Once the local auction rooms, this spacious pub still displays posters featuring its former trade. Real Ale and cider, and large range of bottled beers. Food (V) available daily 12:00-21:00 (until 20:00 Fri-Sun). Open fires and disabled access. Small riverside terrace.

Bridge 90 N97#7p40 N2k#7p40
This is Froxfield Bridge (wrongly numbered 55).

The symbol for the "Pelican Inn" is in the wrong place - relocate closer to the canal (where it says "Inn" on the map!).

Bridge 90 N03#7p85
The text says that the best access to Froxfield is from Bridge 55. This should read Bridge 90.

The symbol for the "Pelican Inn" is in the wrong place. It is closer to the canal, the building south of the A4 just below the 106 spot height.

Lock 70 N97#7p41 N2k#7p41
Locks 74-70 are open 08:30-18:30.  Wait 30 minutes if the lock is against you.  A BW key is needed.

Burnt Mill Foot Bridge N97#7p40 N2k#7p40
This bridge (wrongly numbered 59) is probably unnumbered.
Bridge 95 N97#7p40 N2k#7p40
This is Bedwyn Wharf Bridge (wrongly numbered 60).
Great Bedwyn N97#7p42 N2k#7p42N03#7p84
The garage in Great Bedwyn does *not* sell petrol.  The nearest is in Hungerford.

The facilities, at the Wharf, includes a DIY pump-out (operated by card purchased from BW, boatyards etc).

Bridge 96 N97#7p40 N2k#7p40
This is Bedwyn Church Bridge (wrongly numbered 61).

In spite of the navigational note in the 2000 Edition, saying that no mooring is permitted in the Crofton Flight and visitors to the pumping station should moor at the bottom (Lock 63), there are, in fact, 48hr moorings between Locks 60 and 61.
Bridge 99 N97#7p40#7p45 N2k#7p40#7p45
This is New Bridge (wrongly numbered 103).

In spite of the navigational note in the 2000 Edition, saying that no mooring is permitted in the Crofton Flight and visitors to the pumping station should moor at the bottom there are, in fact, 48 hour moorings between Locks 60 and 61.
Lock 52-51 N97#7p44 N2k#7p44
There are 48hr moorings available between these locks as well as the Water and Refuse Disposal Points shown in the 1997 edition.  (A large green wheelie bin is to be found by the back pumping building, across the road from the lock.)
Wootton Rivers N97#7p44 N2k#7p44
It is strongly advisable to book a table at the Royal Oak, even on a week day.  Children are allowed in the no smoking area. The Royal Oak also offers 24hr toilets to boaters.
Pewsey Wharf N97#7p47 N2k#7p47 N03#7p81
There is a single 1hr mooring at the wharf, which gives time to walk into Pewsey to the Londis or Co-op supermarkets (15mins).  An unconfirmed report says that if you spend more than £10 at the Londis they would deliver it to the wharf for free.

The sanitary station includes a DIY pump-out facility (operated by card purchased from BW, boatyards etc).

Alton Barnes N97#7p49 N2k#7p49
The Post Office and General Stores in the village has closed.

The winding hole immediately west of Allington Swing Bridge (not shown in the 1997 edition) is 65ft maximum.
Bridge 134 N97#7p48 N2k#7p48
The winding hole shown by the bridge is actually midway between Bridges 134 and 133.

The Bridge Inn is a boater-friendly pub and serves real ales straight from the (cooled) barrels. Wadworth's are often wooden!

Devizes

Lock 50 N97#7p52 N2k#7p52
See note about Bridge 146!
Lock 48 N97#7p53 N2k#7p53
As suggested in the description, the Black Horse is between Locks 47 & 48.  The symbol on the map is in the wrong place.
Caen Hill Flight N97#7p53 N2k#7p53 N03#7p74
Operating times for the Caen Hill Flight are: Apr-Oct 08.00-17.00 (clear locks by 20.00) and Nov-Mar 08.00-13.00 (clear locks by 15.30)
Bridge 146 N97#7p52 N2k#7p52
The public Water Point at Lower Foxhangers Bridge is now a private one and the rubbish facilities were no longer to be present in June 2000.  The closest Public Water Point is either at Bradford on Avon or the top of the Caen Hill Flight - east of lock 50.
Bridge 149 N97#7p55 N2k#7p55
There are Water and Refuse Disposal Points at Sells Green Bridge, along with visitor moorings with rings.

The Three Magpies is 100yds north (not 200yds south, as suggested in the text) of the bridge.

Trowbridge

Bridge 169 N97#7p56 N2k#7p56
There is a splendidly commodious winding hole about a 1000yds west of the bridge.  On the map it should appear virtually at the edge of the printed area under the "g" of "Towing Path".

Bradford -on-Avon

Bradford-on-Avon Marina N97#7p59
The Gongoozler has been taken over by a Derbyshire firm and re-named the "Mill House".  The 2000 editions drops reference to the balcony, but adds mention of Bass and Worthington Real Ales.
Bradford Wharf N97#7p56 N2k#7p56
BOAT TRIPS:  The Trust now owns the Barbara McLellan, renamed from Aquarius, which has been refitted to have 60 seats with facilities for the disabled.  The Barbara McLellan replaces Nb Ladywood mentioned in the 1997 edition.  The phone number in the 1997 edition is no longer correct.  Visit the K&A Trust website for further trip boat information.
Lock 14 N97#7p56 N2k#7p56
There is a water point above the lock.
Bridge 173 N97#7p56 N2k#7p56
There's a Winding Hole for boats up to 65ft, west of the bridge and the sewage farm.

Dundas Basin now has Water and Refuse Disposal Points, including DIY pump-out (operated by card purchased from BW, boatyards etc).

The winding hole adjacent to the bridge (2000 edition only) does not exist.

Bridge 183 N97#7p65
There's a full length winding hole midway between Bridge 183 and 182.
Bridge 183 N97#7p65 N2k#7p65 N03#7p63
There should be a beer glass symbol, for the George Inn, west of Bathampton Bridge.

Bath

Bath Flight N97#7p65
Depiction of the Bath flight is eccentric.  Bath Deep Lock (No.8/9) is actually where Bridge 193 appears.  Lock 10 (Wash House Lock) is where the map shows the Deep Lock to be, and Lock 11 is where Lock 10 is shown.  The winding hole is between Locks 11/12, not 10/11.
Lock 13 N97#7p65 N2k#7p65 N03#7p63
There is a Water Point above Bath Top Lock.

The winding hole shown above the lock in the 97 and 2000 editions no longer exists.

Lock 11 N97#7p65 N2k#7p65 N03#7p63
The Water Point has been moved to above Lock 13.  The Refuse Disposal Point remains between Locks 11/12.
Lock 6 N97#7p64 N2k#7p64
The Water Point at Weston Lock doesn't exist.
Lock 4 N97#7p69 N2k#7p69
There is a Water Point and Sewage Disposal Point with DIY Pump-out facilities 800yds below the lock, where the footpath from the Sewage Works joins the southern bank.  (The 2000 edition shows it much closer to Swineford Lock and on the towpath side.)

Hanham Lock

River Avon (Not covered in editions before 2003)

No updates received for the Avon below this point!
